 Terms & Conditions

Important note: Please note that some behavioural issues are not suitable for a class training environment, or for training 121s and are best addressed with a behaviourist. If your dog displays aggression, persistent barking or has problems with other dogs/people, then a class environment is not suitable for your dog. This is because when dogs are showing these behaviours, they will struggle to learn and focus, therefore a class environment could make them worse rather than improve their behaviour. In addition to this, it may cause stress to other dogs in the class. If you feel your dog isn’t now suitable for the class or a training 121, then please seek advice from a qualified behaviourist or book a consultation call with me to discuss this further before booking.

I agree to abide by the following rules:

1/ All dogs must be on leads or safely secured in a crate when not working and dogs must be kept separate from other dogs until instructed otherwise by your trainer. This applies at all times, even when course walking or helping to set up and tidy away equipment.

2/ Any accidents or injuries incurred during training must be reported to Faye during the training session or at faye_b_rooks@hotmail.com as soon as possible.

3/ Excessive barking or aggression is not acceptable within a class environment, if your dog displays these behaviours, you may be asked to leave the class and then Faye will contact you to discuss your dog’s behaviour and advise where to go from there, with either an individual training plan or a referral to a behaviourist. Money will not be refunded in this instance as you have previously agreed on booking that your dog does not bark excessively and is not aggressive. This is because spaces cannot be filled once a course has started.

4/ Faye’s Canine Academy does not allow the use of retractable leads, horizontal harnesses, pet correctors, citronella spray collars, prong collars or anything else that may cause harm to your dog, other dogs or people in class.

5/ Faye’s Canine Academy asks that clients do not use physical punishment when training your dog that could harm your dog or stress them out. If this is seen in class, then you may be asked to leave, this will result in losing any payment made.

6/ On arrival, give your dogs the opportunity to toilet before coming into the venue. DO NOT allow your dogs to toilet in the venue, on equipment or around the entrance door to the venue. The venues policy charges clients that regularly allow their dogs to toilet inside the venue, which I don’t want to enforce so please give your dog every opportunity to toilet between turns to avoid this happening. YOU are in charge of watching your dog at all times, this includes when they are on a lead and you are watching others have their turn.

7/ Online videos shared via Google Drive MUST NOT be shared with anyone else, otherwise I will no longer be able to offer this to future clients. You will only have access to videos whilst you are working with me.

Payment

Upon booking a class, 121 or workshop, payment is required upfront in full to secure your booking. Spaces will not be saved without payment.

121’s

  • Payment for 121’s is to be paid upon booking otherwise your space will not be held or confirmed.
  • 121’s are non-refundable but they can be rescheduled. You must provide 48 hours notice is given if it is a home visit or in a public place.
  • 121’s are for training and NOT severe behavioural issues such as aggression or reactivity.
  • 121’s which are booked at a rented venue can be rescheduled but 1 weeks notice must be given otherwise the venue hire rent will still need to be paid if rescheduled or cancelled.
  • 121’s which are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded.
  • If you feel it is too hot or wet for your 121 to go ahead at a rented venue and classes are still going ahead, then the full fee will be charged. If it is deemed too hot or wet for your 121 to go ahead as decided by the instructor, then venue rent will still be charged but not the full 121 fee and your 121 can be rescheduled.

Classes, courses & workshops

  • All classes, courses and workshops are non-refundable.
  • If you wish to continue training after your course has finished, you will be asked if you would like to sign up to the next course, if one is being run at the time.
  • If you choose to continue training with Faye’s Canine Academy, after the first two courses (minimum 10-week course) you will be able to book up to 4 holidays a year (ONLY 2 holidays if attending alternate weeks) but not in the same block. This is free of charge, provided they are booked at the start of the new block before payment is sent. A maximum of 2 weeks holiday can be booked in any monthly block provided you attend weekly classes. A maximum of 1 holiday can be booked in a monthly block if attending alternate weeks.
  • Payment for the next course/block of classes (once your course has finished) is due on the last day of the current block/course at the latest. If payment is late then your place may be offered to someone who is waiting for a space and a £5 late payment fee will be incurred. Late payments must be made via the link which will be messaged to you.
  • If it is too hot or too wet to go ahead with classes (which is rare) then the rental fee of the venue will be split amongst all clients that train that day and the rest of the class fee used for future training. Unfortunately, this is the only way I can run classes at hired venues.
  • If the class is cancelled due to instructor illness or holiday, then the venue hire will not be charged to the clients and will be paid by the instructor.

Attendance & Cancellation

  • If you cannot attend class for any reason, whether you have Covid, are late leaving work etc or your dog is in season, being spayed/castrated, has kennel cough, is injured or another reason then you have the option to sell your space as a ‘Drop in Space’ on the private Facebook group to avoid losing the fee. PLEASE NOTE that this can only be done after your first two courses (minimum 10 weeks). It is the responsibility of the owner to advertise the space and the instructor will approve your post. Spaces can be sold on Faye’s Canine Academy private Facebook group or the daily messenger groups only and are not offered to the general public. The instructor will try and sell your space if plenty of notice is given but it is not their responsibility to do this.

  • You agree NOT to bring your dog to any classes, workshops or 121’s if your dog has been unwell in the last 24 hours or is showing symptoms of a contagious disease/virus, this is to ensure it is not passed on to other dogs. Unfortunately, this cannot be refunded.
  • If you cannot attend your class, then it cannot be changed to a holiday. Holidays MUST be booked before payment is sent for the new block.
  • If your dog comes into season, then a minimum of 24 HOURS NOTICE must be given. If there are no entire males in your class, then you can still attend. However, if there are entire males in your class when your dog comes into season, then refunds cannot be given because it is then too late to sell your space. However, videos of what is covered will be available, so you don’t miss out. If it is an Agility class that you usually attend, then you will be offered an alternative class to attend. If you choose not to attend this alternative class temporarily while your dog is in season, then full payment will still be taken but you can sell your space as a ‘Drop in’ space on the private Facebook page.
  • If you cannot attend for any of the reasons above, then you MUST still inform your trainer EVERY WEEK please, even though payment will still be taken. Please message your trainer and then they will know why you are not there, thank you.

Safety

  • As a trainer, the safety and well-being of my clients and their dogs is of upmost importance. Therefore, you MUST ensure that your dog’s walking equipment is correctly fitted. Please ask if you need any information on walking equipment for your dog and how it should be fitted.
  • We DO NOT allow harnesses which go horizontally across the dog’s chest as this restricts the dogs shoulder movement and can cause long term issues. Dogs are also very good at escaping this type of harness.
  • A reminder that YOU are responsible for your dog being under control at all times. If your dog is not under control in class (for example if he/she regularly runs off or you are struggling to control your dog) then you may be advised to attend 121’s for extra help or advised on better equipment to help you both.
  • If you feel you are struggling in any way, then please do not hesitate to speak to me. Remember I am here to help, not to judge. I would like all dogs to have a positive experience in class and will do my utmost to ensure this.
